Marriage was performed September 22, 1791, by Minister Samuel Shannon. On the same page is the record of a marriage between Benjamin Sample and Mary Gum on August 11, 1791, performed by the same Minister Samuel Shannon. It seems likely that Benjamin and David were brothers.^S2, ^S3

   He married Mary Gum 11 Aug 1791 at Woodford, Kentucky. Mary Gum was born at Rockingham, Virginia Abt 1765 daughter of Jacob Gum and Lydia Dever .
   
   They were the parents of 4 children:
