Researcher Bill Jackson notes that he believes most or all of the children were born to Jennie Margaret, but he hasn't been able to verify that. "I don't believe Benjamin and his family were enumerated on the 1870 census. I've been unable to find them even using the children's names."

Disambiguation from Bob Mitchell: "I have not been able to find BFJ on any 1870 Census records either. The information I have on this particular family came from an Ancestry File I came upon 5 May 2006 by Will Johnson, Professional Genealogist which was copyrighted in 2004. He named all of the children as those of unknown Green. The name Francis was added later and unsourced. The second wife, Jennie, was also added later and is not sourced. Pat has a copy of a death certificate for her grandfather, whom I think is Thomas Lee Jackson, that shows his mother as Francis Green. According to the 1900 Fannin Co., Texas Census for BFJ, he is married and has been married for 35 years which would make his marriage to Jennie in 1865. All of the children I have found were born after 1865. Thomas Lee was born in Aug 1867 according to the 1900 Census, but that sometimes is not very reliable. BFJ is on the 1860 Census in Whitfield Co., Georgia with a couple of his brothers with no wife. So if he was married to Frances Green, he would have married her between 1861 and 1865 if the 1900 census is correct on how long he was married. The 1900 Fannin C., Texas Census shows both Benjamin F. Jackson and Jennie Jackson, but they are enumerated separately, he by himself and she with children. He says 35 years of marriage and she 33 years of marriage. I really don't know if the Jennie Jackson in Fannin Co. with the children is the wife of BFJ.

"My opinion is that BFJ was married first to Frances Green sometime between 1861 and 1866. Together they had Thomas Lee Jackson who we think was born in 1867; Frances died in childbirth, whereupon BFJ remarried quickly to Jennie and they had the balance of the children.

"I had a conversation about BFJ and the fact that he had two children born in Humphreys Co., Tennessee with someone a few months ago, but I don't have a clue who it was. We came to the conclusion that he must have had some family around as Humphreys Co. is not exactly on an overland trail to Arkansas if you are traveling from Georgia. He could have been traveling by Packet Boat where he boarded in southern east Tennessee, say Chattanooga and travel downstream on the Tennessee to Humphreys Co. at the port of Johnsonville. Researchers say the children were born in Waverly which is about 25 miles from Johnsonville. From Waverly he could have traveled overland to the Cumberland River where he could have boarded a Packet Boat and travel downstream to Paducah. From there he would travel down the Ohio to the Mississippi where he could have ported at Memphis and continued on into Arkansas."
