Beda was born in Lillberg, Råneå, Norbotten, Sweden 13 June 1894, her family then moved to Våstitråsk, Råneå, Norbotten 1897-1899, then to Rörån, Råneå, Norbotten 1899 - 1903, then in Malmberget, Gälivare, Norbotten 1903- 1909. On 4 February 1909 at 14 1/2 years old, she moved to Överstby, Råneå, Norbotten by herself, before she left for North America with her father on the 18 March 1909. She is llisted in 1910 Census under the name BELA Nelson, working as a servant. Her sister Lydia and Brother Hugo came to America in 1913 and brother Axel in 1920. They are the only siblings to emigrate to America. Their mother Regina remained in Sweden with the other siblings. I do not know if this was due to lack of money to make the journey, of if Regina did not want to leave Sweden.

Beda married William Emil Gilberg (Erik Emil Gillberg) approximately 1913 (have not been able to verify)in Minneapolis, Minnesota, they moved to Fridley Minnesota in 1926 until after William's death Dec 15 1931. In mid 1930's Beda moved to Columbia Heights MN where she raised her 5 sons as a single parent during the depression. Two son's Roy and Roger died during WW II. Beda resided in Columbia Heights until her death.
