Hubert enlisted in the U S Navy on May 26, 1944, in Minneaapolis, MN He was stationed at U S Naval traing Station Farragut, Idaho. Then in the spring of 1945 he was stationed on the Submarine base on Midway Island, transferred to U S Navy hospital #10 in Aiea (Honolulu), Ohau Hawaii on Dec 9, 1945 for observation due to heart problems. During the first week of Janauary, 1946 he, developed a Fununcle (boil) on his left leg, and was being reated with moist hot packs. He was burned and an infection set in and he was hospitalized about two weeks.
