AUTHOR'S NOTE: In the 1850 US census in an adjoining listing which provides a different dwelling and family number than that for Johann Georg's family the census enumerator listed a Bowl Steger, age 14 as a laborer owning real estate valued at $200.00. I cannot help but believe this is actually Johann Georg's daughter Barbara. (Source: Ancestry.com: Census Year: 1850; Census Place: District 7, Dubuque, Iowa; Roll: M432_183; Page: 79; Image: 552.) 

         In the 20 July 1860 US census, Barbara, now 24, is very clearly listed as living with her parents.  (Source: Ancestry.com: Census Year: 1860; Census Place: Concord, Dubuque, Iowa;  Roll: M653_320; Page: 82; Image: 221.)
