Clarence Hill Dies;

Rites Set Tomorrow


Clarence Hill, 66, of 136 Allen, died Monday afternoon in General Hospital where he had been carried last Friday following a stroke.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 P.M. from the Glendale Assembly of God Church with Rev. Earl Blythe, Rev. Bruce Thompson, C.E. Taylor and Rev. J. E. Meggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Double Springs Cemetery near Milan, Tennessee. His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hill was born in Gibson County and moved to Madison County in 1912. He had lived in Jackson for the past forty years and had been an employee of Miller Lumber Company for 25 years before his retirement eleven years ago.
He attended First Assembly of God Church.
He was married to Miss Nora Alice Johnson in 1907. She survives him.
He also leaves a son, Nolan Hill of Jackson; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Stez, Mrs. James Walker, Mrs. Lawrence Loveless and Mrs. Woodrow Smith, all of Jackson; four brothers, Elmer and Horace Hill of Jackson, Jack Hill of Hammond, Ind., and Brice Hill of Memphis; two sisters, Mrs. Beecher Collins and Mrs. Ben Collins of Jackson; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The body will be at the residence 136 Allen Ave. Smith Funeral Home is in charge.
