Henkenius
Mrs. Ferdinanda Henkenius, another of the old and esteemed residents of the city, passed away at 2 o'clock this morning at the residence of her son, George Henkenius, at the corner of St. Mary's avenue and Spring street. Mrs. Henkenius had reached the age of seventy-four years and her death was due to the infirmities of age.
She was the widow of Frank Henkenius, who died twenty-two years ago. A native of Germany, she emigrated to America, lived first at New Orleans and then at Cincinnati, removing to Fort Wayne in 1853, before the days of the railroads in this section, and this city has been her home continuously since that time. There are six surviving children -- Frank Henkenius, a car inspector for the Pennsylvania company; George Henkenius, engaged in the grocery business; Peter Henkenius, an employee of the Fox cracker factory; Clem Henkenius, a timber buyer in the south, and Mrs. Tina Keller, residing at 8 Elm street.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock from the residence and at 9 o'clock from the Church of the Precious Blood, of which Mrs. Henkenius was a devoted member.
