Annie Eliza Palmer was born on 1st March 1885 at Glapthorn in Northamptonshire, daughter of Eliza Palmer, formerly Berridge, and her husband Thomas Palmer, a carpenter and smallholder. Annie was the second of the couple's thirteen children. The 1891 census finds Annie living with her parents and siblings in Glapthorn. All four of her grandparents were also living in the village at that time.
By 1901 Annie was working as a housemaid in the nearby small town of Oundle, living and working in Sidney House, one of the boarding houses of Oundle School.
Some time between 1901 and 1911 Annie left Northamptonshire and moved to Bury in Lancashire, where she lived with her aunt, Caroline Emma Spencer, formerly Palmer, who was her father's sister. In Bury, Annie worked as a ring winder in the cotton mills. Annie was still living in Bury with her aunt and her cousin's son at the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939.
Annie later retired to her native Glapthorn. She was living there again by 1957 when she was mentioned in her brother Thomas's obituary. Annie died in 1960, aged 75.
