Annie Grant was baptised on 24th March 1867 at Sidlesham in Sussex, daughter of a charwoman named Maria Grant, formerly Prior, and her husband Stephen Grant, a fisherman. When Annie was still a baby her father died. The 1871 census finds Annie living with her widowed mother, older siblings and uncle at Mill in Sidlesham.

In 1875 Annie's mother married again, with her second husband being a carpenter named George Fullinger, who thus became Annie's stepfather. The 1881 census finds Annie living at Mill with her mother, stepfather and various siblings and half-siblings. Annie has yet to be researched after 1881.
