Some sources claim that Ann 'Nancy' Erwin was a daughter of Francis Erwin and Jean Curry, but neither Francis or Jean Erwin named a daughter Ann or Nancy in their wills. Francis Erwin named a daughter "Susannah" in his will of 1791, but she was unmarried at the time of the writing of his will in 1791, which was 4 years after the marriage of this Ann 'Nancy' Erwin, so the possibity of Francis and Jean Erwin being this Ann 'Nancy' Erwin's parents seem very remote.

Based upon other sources, it appears much more likely that Ann was the daughter of Francis Erwin and Elizabeth Clements, who were married in 1767 in Augusta County.
