    1713. April 19th. Ann, relict of Governor Bradstreet, dies, AE 79 [born about 1634]. She was daughter of Emmanuel Downing, and was born in London. Her first husband was Capt. Joseph Gardner, slain by the Indians at Narraganset. She had an excellent education, and what is more, a principle of deep piety, which rendered her talents, attainments and possessions, blessings to society.

    Mrs. Anne Bradstreet, widow, will dated 29 Sep 1712, proved 24 Apr 1713, gives to Eliza Davenport, Anne Winthrop and Lucy Dudley, daughters of Col. John Wainwright, dec'd; to cousins Capt. John Gardner, Habakkuk Gardner, and Bartholomew Gedney son of William Gedney; to Mrs. Margaret Corwin [according to cited notes, this is wife of John Corwin even though she died a year before this will was written, and full text bequeaths this to her daughter Lucy if she is dec'd]; to Mad. Rebecca Brown; to cousin Elizabeth Wainwright widow; to cousin John Norton of Hingham; to Mercy and Sarah Oliver, daus. of Dr. Oliver; to cousin Anne Williams; to cousin Higginson wife of John Higginson; to cousin Gardner of Nantucket [according to cited notes, this is nephew of her first husband, even though he died 11 year before will was written]; to Martha Warham; to cousin Bonus Norton of Hingham and to his dau Sarah; to Mr. Epes's dau. Mary Capen; to negro Hannah her freedom; Cousin Adam Winthrop and Addington Davenport, executors. Added after signature: "Good friends Christopher Babbage and Simon Willard 20 shillings apiece."
