Ann Ward appears to have been born around 1814 at Great Hale in Lincolnshire, daughter of Ann Ward, formerly Allam, and her husband Luke Ward, a carpenter. No birth or baptism record has been found for young Ann, but the family was known to have Baptist leanings and many of Ann's siblings were not baptised until they were adults.

Ann's maternal grandfather, John Allam, died in 1841, leaving Ann a house at Great Hale. Ann's father died in 1844.

On 22nd May 1848, Ann married a joiner called William Everitt at Leadenham, about fifteen miles north-west of Great Hale. He was from Leadenham, and they settled there after their marriage, having three children at Leadenham between 1849 and 1853, although their youngest daughter died in 1854 when she was only one year old. Back in Great Hale, Ann's mother died in 1857.

Each census from 1851 to 1891 finds Ann and William living in Leadenham. William was described variously as a labourer, carpenter and joiner.

Some time between 1891 and 1895 William and Ann left Leadenham and moved nearly forty miles north-east to Louth, where their daughter had settled. Ann died there on 17th January 1895, when she was said to be either 80 or 81 years old. William survived her by fourteen years.

It appears Ann and William left Leadenham and moved to Louth some time between 1891 and her death in 1895, probably to live with their daughter Ann and her family. William appears there as a widower in the 1901 census.
