Ann's maiden name and origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 15th November 1768 when she married Joseph Males at Welwyn in Hertfordshire. At the time of her marriage she was described as Ann Mardel, widow.

After their marriage Ann and Joseph moved to the neighbouring parish of Knebworth. They do not appear to have had any children.

Ann was buried at Knebworth on 30th March 1776. Her age is not given. She and Joseph had been married for just over seven years. Joseph remarried two years after her death.
