23. Andrew BRATTON was born in 1737 in Bethel, Chester County, Pennsylvania and died in 1780 in Bratton Township, Mifflin City, Pennsylvannia at age 43.

General Notes: Andrew was an early settler, and later the supervisor of roads in the Juniata River Valley, Mifflin Co, PA. Bratton Township was named after this family.

Per the "Pioneers of Mifflin Co. PA": "The first settlers of Miffline Co. was Andrew Bratton. In 1754 he went from Hamilton Township (now Franklin Co) to what is now Bratton Township. Before that he had probably lived in Chester Co., where the Brattons seem to have originated. Rev. Charles Beatty stopped at Andrew Bratton's when on his missionary tour in 1766; the first church in the section was erected on his land about 1776. Andrew Bratton married Nancy Holliday of Peters Township (now Franklin Co.) He died about 1780 leaving sons William (1745-1825) and John. William was Captain in the Revolution, later a squire. He married about 1776 Christiana Hamilton. John never married."
