    Amos is listed as 30 years old in the 1851 census so assume he was born 1821 +/-

    In the 1871 Ontario census he is listed as Lown, Amaus Age: 51 Birthplace: Ontario Religion: Church of England, Anglican Origin: Irish Occupation: Farmer, District: Northumberland East (055) Sub-district: Percy (F) Division: 1 Page: 40 Microfilm Reel: C-9985

    I (GBL) wrote to the Anglican Diocese nearest to where both Amos and Catherine (See below) lived in hopes of locating some record of birth or death of either and received the following email dated 2/16/2008:

    Dear George Thank you for your email. Records of all previous weddings/funerals/ baptisms except the recent registers that we are using at present are all lodged with the County Records Office. This is now situated at Northumberland County Records, Queen Elizabeth 11 Country Park, Ashington, Northumberland, NE63 9YF Sorry I do not know the website address but you should be able to track it down.     Note: There is a record of a Catherine Low age 80 yrs died 29 August 1848 of bowel complaint/ Rev Jonathon Scott WM Port Hope. WM may stand for Wesleyan Minister. Don't know if this is any relation. Could be mother to James and Amos(?). May not. Nothing to ground it on
