    Reed, Alice, d. Capt. Obadiah and Mary, [died] June 20, 1746, a. 1 y. 11 m. 8 d. GR12
[Obadiah had two daughters named Alice and both died very young. However, this particular death date appears to be in error. Since it comes from a gravestone, perhaps the error was caused by reading the gravestone incorrectly, possibly as a result of weathering? This is the second of the two death records, but the age given calculates a birth date of 12 Jul 1744, about a year before the earliest of the recorded baptisms. Certainly it is not the death of the first Alice, since there would be no second Alice born before this date, but there is. So, being the second death date, it probably belongs to the second Alice, and the fact that the age at death doesn't calculate right probably means the death date on the gravestone was read incorrectly. If we assume the death date was 1748, instead of 1746, a simple mistake that could be caused by weathering of a single engraved number, the birth then calculates to 12 Jul 1746, one day before the recorded baptism date. Thus, that is what we suspect happened. GR12=Mount Zion Cemetery, Whitman.]
