Three days prior to her death, she was fatally burned while caring for an invalid whose family was on an extended trip. She was a trained nurse and dropped an alcohol lamp,which set fire to the carpet, and when she tried to stamp out the blaze her clothing caught fire.Alice LaChapelle was a nurse; she died of burns.
