Note that the place does not state a city, only Malheur Co. Perhaps Westfall had not been recognized as a city yet. This is the 31st marriage in book A. The early years of the Westfall era.

This Census record is very hard to read. I cannot even be sure that this is John and Anna but the childrens names pretty much match.

Petitioner is Addie Presley. Chilren and heirs of Joseph Mullen are:
Ed Mullen son aged about 38 residing at Westfall
Lee Mullen son age about 50 residing at Ontario
All Mullen about 48 residing at Salmon Idaho and

Joseph Mullen is a widower, he is in possesion of 160 acres of pasture land valued $40.. and he is a pensioner from the US Government to the amount of $50.00-Civil War Veteran-per month. Joseph Mullen is very old about 90 years is feble in mind and body, childish and infirm. Needs proper nursing etc. He is in need of some suitable and competent person to look after his affairs and his personal needs.
    Signed Addie Presley.

Addie was granted guardianship and at his death brought the account of his affairs:
$1050.35 cash came in. $620.90 cash paid out.

1924 June 3 balance on hand belonging to the estate $429.45 Reference number: WLOR006 Verified: YES

Note in the heirs Alfred is not mentioned but he was paid the $5.00 from the estate. Maybe Albert was supposed to be Alfred??
I am surprised at how few dates are on these documents. Also the lack of accuracy. On Joseph's death certificate he was 86 when he died not 90, and the ages and names of his sons were inconsistant. We did not copy the entire file as it was over a hundred pages. We seemed however to have missed the page that finalized the estate and told who received it. I believe that it was Addie since she took care of him in the last months of his life and each of the 3 brothers were paid $5.00 a piece.

  6.   Marriage Certificate (1)
State of Oregon, County of Malheur, Marriage Record, Affidavit for Marriage License Bk A Pg 72 #412 from the Malheur County Clerk's office., 14 Sep 1900.

«u»Alfred Mullen«/u» being duly sworn, says that he is acquainted with «u»Jasper Westfall«/u» and «u»Daisy Sullivan«/u» applicants for a Marriage License; that he knows the former to be above the age of «u»21«/u» years, and the latter to be above the age of «u»18«/u» years; and that said «u»Daisy Sullivan«/u» has resided in Malheur County for the past six months Affiant further says that he knows of no legal impediment to their marriage.
It is signed by Alfred Mullen. Reference number: MROR023 Verified: YES

I am assuming that the questions about age must have been a requirement of law since the form uses the language of "to be above the age ____".

Also only Daisy is noted as living in Malheur Co. for 6 months not Jasper. Sullivan was not her maiden name, it was Bishop.

Written note on top of certificate states that they were married-Sept 16, 1900.
