Obituary in New York Times, 27 June 1968: Alexander Bates Gale, a stockbroker, died Tuesday at the St. Luke's Hospital Center. He was 90 years old and lived at 136 East 64th Street. Mr. Gale was active in Brooklyn civic and social affairs. He had been President of the Crescent Athletic-Hamilton Club and head of the Westhampton (L.I.) Horse Show. He was on the governing committee of the New York Stock Exchange from 1930 to 1933. He purchased a seat on the exchange in 1912 and sold it in 1966. Mr. Gale's first wife, Mrs. Marjorie Brice Gale, died in 1935. Surviving are his widow, the former Mrs. Belle White, and a sister, Mrs. Louise G. Wrenn. |
