The Schenkel family migrated to America in 1837, and settled in Stark County, Ohio.

In 1847, ADAM moved his family to Huntington County, Indiana. If a true date, that would have been a year before the earliest Urbana, Indiana pioneers arrived from Tuscarawas County, Ohio!

The book "Full Circle" says they passed through Ft. Wayne, Indiana, where they found a "hodgepodge of muddy streets and dingy shops.....". In Huntington County, they found cheap land, and bought 160 acres.
