  2.   The Abiel Richardson who is born in Westford in "174-", s/o Abiel, grandson of Jonathan, is described by Source:Vinton, John Adams. Richardson Memorial, p. 569, #5368, as: "married, but his wife's name to the compiler is unknown", "we known little more about him that that he was the father of the children whose names follow", "it is almost certain, however, that he lived in Royalston".

But the article in NEHGR, p. 100:129 that sorts out the older Abiel Richardsons (but without giving details on this son) says that Timothy Richardson, brother of the other Abiel (i.e., not the one shown to be father of this Abiel), married Alice Wyman and "eventually settled in Royalston, Mass." (In support of this statement, both Timothy and "Ellies" and some of their children died in Royalston with ages at death that match their Attleboro births: Timothy, b. Attleboro 1715, d. Royalston 1801 age 86; "Ellies, w. Timothy" d. 1777; Abijah, b. Attleboro 1751, d. Royalston 1830 age 79; son Timothy b. Attleboro 1740, d. Royalston 1823 age 82.) This other Abiel, brother to Timothy, drowned in 1765 along with his own son Abiel. So while the other Abiel is not a candidate to be the Abiel of Royalston, neither are the Royalston Richardsons related to this Abiel, which would seem to suggest Vinton's assumed connection was bogus.

Further, Timothy and Alice had a son named Abiel, b. Attleboro 1747, which, by age would make him similar looking to this Abiel, b. 1748. Given the vagueness of the description here, it seems chances are as good that the Royalston Abiel is actually Timothy's son, not this Abiel. Especially since one of the children the Royalston Abiel was father of, according to Vinton, is named Timothy. More information is needed.
