THIS INDENTURE maid this first day of August 1765 Between ELENOR COWAN of St. Anns Parish in Albemarle County of one part & DAVID LEWIS JUR. of same County and parish of other part Witnesseth that said ELENOR COWAN for the sum of Twenty pounds Current money hath sold unto mid DAVID LEWIS &to his Heirs a parcell of land in the Parish of St. Ann in the County of Albemarle on the branches of MECHIMS RIVER containing Eighty nine acres & bounded Beginning at a Pine in HENRY CARRs Corner thence on CARRs line North crossing a large Branch of MECHIMS RIVER to a white oak saplin then a new line North East to pointers in MICHAEL WALLACEs line & on his line South West crossing said Branch to pointers thence on new lines South West to a Hickory Bush in the Child Fetid thence West to Pointers on CARRs line & on the same North East to the first Station

I assign all my right & Title of the above mentioned land unto DAVID LEWIS JR. as Witness my hand & Seal
