EDNA ELEANOR CHAMPION (nee PERKINS) 1913 - 2003
Eleanor died peacefully Saturday, September 6, 2003. She was predeceased by Walter, her husband of 70 years; daughter Susan; grandson Bruce; brother David; sisters, Norma, Elsie, Ruth, Floris, Orla and Shirley. She is survived by daughter [living] of Corpus Christi; son [living] of Winnipeg and sister [living] of Tulsa; brothers, [living] of Winnipeg and [living] Vancouver; her grandchildren, [name of living individuals have been removed;] great-grandchildren, [name of living individuals have been removed,] as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Mother was born in and moved into Winnipeg as a young girl and was educated, married and raised her family in Winnipeg. She was a fierce loyalist of Canada, Manitoba and Winnipeg, as she was of her families, relatives and friends. She was blessed with a prodigious memory and almost perfect recall which served her extended family many times as near and distant relatives would call on her to fill gaps in their own memories. She loved visiting family anywhere and in her later years cherished visits from families and friends. She was a strong believer in the written word and loved exchanging letters. She was especially pleased that just prior to her passing she had a visit from daughter Mary; granddaughters, Ainsley and Wendy, along with Jeffrey and Madelaine, as well as a visit from the Heuvelman families. Tom, a special thanks to you for never forgetting. You have a special place with all of us. Mother never passed up a crossword which in most cases with her memory were never much of a challenge. She was an avid reader and books she cared for would be reread over many times. Playing cards was a passion which she shared right to the end with the great-grandchildren, as well as her latest acquaintances in the Courts. At Mothers request, there will be no service and the family request that any flowers or gifts be shared with an institution of your choice. Thanks Mother for our part of the 90 years we were able to share with you. You will be forever missed.
