Stephen Bryant m. abt. 1646 Abigail Shaw.

  2. Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 10:35, "John Shaw's Deeds", gives text of deed dated 30 Jan 1663/64: "I John Shaw of Plymouth in New England seni'r" ... "give unto my son in law Stephen Bryant of Plymouth". Also mentions "my Daughter Abigaill Bryant". This proves Stephen Bryant's wife was Abigail, d/o John Shaw. Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 14:144, "Plymouth Colony Deeds", has deed dated 27 Mar 1660/61: "Stephen Bryant of the Towne of Plymouth" unto "Mr John Barnes of the Towne aforsaid" land "which was given unto him the said Stephen Bryant by his father in law John Shaw sen'r: of the towne of Plymouth". This confirms that John Shaw was Stephen Bryant's father in law and has an earlier date. However, the marriage must have actually been about 1646 based on marriage of their daughter Abigail to John Bryant on 23 Nov 1665, implying her birth abt. 1647, to be of legal age at the time of the marriage. (See Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 18:56, "Plymouth Colony Vital Records".)
