    MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
    I, Tho. K. Cartmell, Clerk of the County Court for the County of Frederick, State of Virginia, the same being a Court of Record, do certify that there is recorded in this office the marriage of Laurence Aug. Washington and Mary Dorcas Wood, and the rites of said Marriage were solemnized by Rev. Alexander Balmain, Minister, on the 6th day of November, 1797. Who made returns of same to the Clerk's Office aforesaid as required by the Statute of Virginia.
    Given under my hand on this 9th day of November, 1896.
