↑ There are two Joseph Parkers with wives named Martha having children in Andover at the same time: Joseph Jr. and 2nd wife Martha Johnson and Joseph 3d and only wife Martha Barker. Source:Essex Genealogist (Massachusetts) (Essex Society of Genealogists) covers the first at Vol. 19, p. 95, and the second at Vol. 18, p. 161, both articles noting the confusion. Obviously subtle clues govern the distribution of recorded births between the two families. These articles appear reasonable, but their arrangement creates the oddity of a 6-year gap between marriage and birth of first child for the older Joseph, so there is a chance that further research may suggest changes.
