[Note: assigned to this family following TEG, Vol. 18, p. 162, though no evidence is given to justify it, and the alternative seems equally possible based on the evidence so far located. One can only surmise, that since the town clerk did not distinguish between the two Joseph and Martha's until 1741, it was because until then the other couple had not until then had a child recorded so as to make the town clerk aware of the duality.]
