The only John Plummer (or variants) and Ann marriage found so far is that of John Plumer and Ann Goldsmith, who married at Hitchin in 1737. However, that marriage is almost certainly a different couple to the couple who settled at Stotfold. The John who married Ann Goldsmith in 1737 was described on the marriage record as a tanner, corresponding to the John Plumer, tanner, who was buried at Hitchin in 1752, and left a will referring to his wife Ann and daughter Sarah Baron (who appears to have been that John's daughter from a previous marriage).

Another possibility is that the couple who had their children in Stotfold might have been the “John Hammer” and Ann Leonard who had married at neighbouring Arlesey on 4th October 1741. It is possible to imagine how the handwriting may have been mistranscribed to turn Plummer into Hammer, but the original record would need to be inspected to confirm this. There do not appear to be any later sightings of that John and Ann Hammer in the area. Needs to be confirmed at Bedfordshire Archives.
