James Patterson of Nottingham, Chester County, PA, wrote his will in 1740/41. It was probated March 26, 1741. Source:Martin, 1993 provides an extract of this will.

To wife Anne, all estate for support of herself and bringing up and schooling of our children, during widowhood, afterwards to my children, viz
