    Fire in Anderson Valley.

The residence of E. B. Ball in Anderson valley was totally destroyed by fire last Sunday morning with all its contents. It was a rather large two story building and had been occupied by Mr. Ball for many years. The loss was between $4000 and $4000. It is said that the insurance expired only a few days before the fire. Mr. Ball is a pioneer, having settled at his present home in 1852. [sic]

Note: Emmett Burnham Ball's father was the pioneer who settled here in 1852.
