Three other persons are sometimes identified as his children, but are not included in his will. These are

James (1752-1838) married Rebecca Davis (1754-1837)

Michael (1749-1820) d. in Caswell Co., NC. married Jennett Finley (1755-1843)

Jane b. late 1740's married Edward Maxwell

There may be good and sufficient reason to include the above persons among Alexander's children, but additional documentation would be needed to accept them as in fact his children, absent their mention in his will.

Bequest of property in Amherst county, VA indicates that he came to Orange County NC from Amherst/Albemarle County

Robert Barnett is identified as his soninlaw. Robert is believed to have married Alexander's daughter Mary.

Daughter Ann is commonly identified as marrying Hugh Dobbins. At least one source identifies her husband as William Edmondson. Hugh Dobbins will identifies a wife Ann, who is presumed to be Ann Montgomery daughter of Alexander. Possibly Hugh was Ann's second husband, or perhaps there are two Ann Montgomeries, one married to Hugh Dobbins, the other to William Edmondson. Since Hugh Dobbins lived adjacent other family relations (e.g., Bazaleel Maxwell and PErson:John Walker (81), he is tentatively accepted as the soninlaw of Alexander Montgomery.
