Wanted pages lists broken (red) links in the order of most commonly occurring.
Category:Sources Needed lists pages where someone has identified that sources are missing. Citation needed lists pages where a particular fact has been noted as needing a citation. Ideally such a list would be automatically produced, but for now this is what we have.
WeRelate:Data Quality Tasks/Events out of order lists a subset of pages where there is a fact/event before the birth year. This is a prototype - if there is sufficient interest, this list might get automated. Note: If anyone wants a list of the pages where they were the last contributor (even if only indirectly through a propagated change), please let me know on my Talk page--DataAnalyst 23:14, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Tasks that Require a Moderate Amount of Research
- 25 May 2016: Visit Category:Sources Needed or Category:Source citations needed or Category:Date with no source to see pages that need sources; they currently have links to several hundred. Pick a family or person at random, or one where you have experience, and then see if you can find any primary or secondary sources to add to the page. You may get lucky and find a source for several family members. If you add sources, you can also remove the "sources needed" template from the page. If you find a possible source but are uncertain, add your research to the talk page of the Person or Family for others to see what you found; it may help them to confirm the data they have.
- 30 May 2016: James Davies and Jane Richards, this family and their descendants to 2001 are a mess, names all caps, lots of facts in the places fields, incomplete places and no sources for most of it. I have tidied their son John and added lots of facts and sources and will add the census details to his family page. They are mostly English and Welsh pages.
- 4 Jun 2016: Find some interesting pages to add to Featured Page nominations not strictly data improvement but it does give people an idea of what pages can look like. Any pages can be added, not just people, and you can nominate a page you have worked on.
- 14 Oct 2016: For anyone who is looking to add sources, the tree created by Inator needs a lot of work. It appears to be cobbled together from a number of other trees and most of the sources I have seen so far are WorldConnect and the like. I believe that this tree is largely US-centric and sources are not that hard to find (FamilySearch, Ancestry.com for census records). Inator has been inactive for 8 years, so there is no need to enter the Change Summary unless someone else is also watching a page. Tasks that Require Minimal (or no) Research
- 5 Sep 2016: Wanted pages lists broken (red) links in the order of most commonly occurring. In some cases, a page could be created to resolve the broken links, but in many cases, the page with the link should be cleaned up so that the text is no longer treated as a link. For example, 896 pages have a place of Farmer, when this is clearly an occupation that should be moved from the Place field to the Description field. Many times examination of the page reveals additional cases of Place field data that should be moved to the Description field as well, thereby further helping to reduce the Wanted pages list. Clean up of these pages would make WeRelate a more inviting place to visit.
- 14 Oct 2016: A tree submitted by user OliviaRevits looks like it has been subject to a number of merges and consequently has lots of alternate facts. In many cases, there are exact dates with a source and approx. years with no source. There is no value in keeping the alternate facts with approx. years, and it makes the pages difficult to read. This tree is quite small (206 pages). She submitted 3 other trees which can be found on the Old GEDCOMs page, but I have not ascertained if they have the same issue.
- Also, many of the pages in this tree have her WeRelate signature (see this example). There does not seem to be much point in that and maybe it should be removed.
- 30 Dec 2016 The second marriage of Person:Jean Belliveau (1), to Marie-Cecile Melanson, is in WeRelate twice, as is one of their children. Records need to be merged for one or more generations. If inclined, you can also improve the aesthetics of the pages by consolidating facts and moving source information from the narrative to sources.--DataAnalyst 20:24, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- I have completed the duplicate merging, but there is still a lot of room for improvement in the aesthetics of these and related pages.
