By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors. Now that you have uploaded waj_4.GED, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. Click here to review your GEDCOM Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.
[add comment] [edit] Your Gedcom file warnings [12 August 2009]Hi and welcome to WeRelate. I have reviewed your gedcom file. There were a few warnings about husband and wife having the same surname. In genealogy databases we list the wife by her birth name. If you don't do this, people will have difficulty finding her. This is simple to fix if you wish to do so. Just click the warning. The family will appear in the bottom part of the screen. You can then click on the wife's name to go to her screen. Simply change the surname to the birth name (usually her father's name). Return to the warning tab to do the next one. Your file also contains a lot of living people. We do not allow upload of data for living people. The system has marked the ones that it recognized as living. However, you have a number of people with no dates. The system will not be able to recognize these. Please take a minute to review the list of names on the People tab and mark the Exclude box for those who may be living. When you have made any changes you wish to make, simply go to the Import tab and click the Ready to Import button again. Now that you have uploaded waj_all.GED, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it. Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier.
