Next step: Review your GEDCOM [15 August 2021]
You're not done yet!
Now that you have uploaded Thomas Allen Eddy.ged into our review program, it is time for you to match your data to ours. Your next step is to review and resolve any potential warnings that your file might be showing and to match place names, source names and families to pages that may already exist in our database.
Notes:
- You must complete all the steps before your GEDCOM can be considered for import. - We will keep your file in the queue for three months to give you time to finish, and you do not have to finish all at once.
- If you did not follow the instructions for preparing your data before uploading your file or if your file does not contain at least one date and place for each person with sources, it is likely that your file will be rejected.
- Volunteers are here to help. Please read the instructions first, but if you get stuck or have any questions, you can leave a message on the page for the GEDCOM review team. One of our volunteers will respond shortly.
- Once you have completed the review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import on the last screen, one of our volunteer administrators will review the file again and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24-48 hours. Please allow a little extra time around the holidays. When the import is finalized, you will receive a follow up message here on your Talk page.

Editing GEDCOM errors [19 August 2021]
Hello, Thomasaeddy. I happened to notice your question on Dallan's talk page and thought I'd reply here, as you might not check that page again for responses. (By the way, the Support page is a better place to ask for help. There's a link to it under "Help" at the upper right. Whatever page you use, you probably want to click on "Watch" on the left menu while on that page so that you will be notified of updates to it.)
You may have missed DataAnalyst's response to your question, which was helpful and even was illustrated with an image.
I think you'll want to read it if you haven't. (Click this link to go there.) --robert.shaw 19:26, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
I did get a response unfortunately the response was to click the "edit" link but there is no "edit" link. I am not sure what to do or how to have my GEDCOM file included in your pages.

- Okay, I've looked at your GEDCOM and I believe I see the problem. The first thing to understand is that the post-Upload edit feature (the one that DataAnalyst's response showed) is only useful if your GEDCOM has no problems except one (or a very few) easy problems. (It's intended to allow a quick way to avoid having to take time immediately to go back to your original database, correct the problems, regenerate the GEDCOM, and re-Upload the new file.)
- It's generally not good to rely on that post-Upload editing feature because it is temporary and applies only to the current upload. If you have to regenerate the GEDCOM to fix something else, then all your post-Upload edits will be lost, so that work will have to be repeated one way or another. If there are more than a very few quick fixes needed (more than you want to do over and over again) or unexpected problems, then all that editing work would be lost. Usually it's best to edit your original genealogical database (or in special circumstances, a copy of it) to have all the corrections needed, and then do a new GEDCOM export and upload. This gets the good data into a permanent place and avoids losing corrections and doing extra work.
- Now, on the home review page for your upload, you'll see there's a message under "Quality" - "Warning level" that says you have 7.6% warnings and that your GEDCOM has too many warnings to import. The system allows only some low percentage of warnings (I'm not sure what percentage), and so will not allow this GEDCOM to be imported. As the message suggests, you need to correct the errors back in your genealogy program (or on the genealogy website you might be using) and then generate a corrected GEDCOM file and upload that. (To do this, you'll want to refer to the list of 14 warnings the software has listed on the Warnings tab.)
- So that's what is needed at this point. If you have further questions, you can put them on this talk page where'll I'll be watching, or ask on the Support page. --robert.shaw 19:37, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
