WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors. Now that you have uploaded Grice for werelate.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it. Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier. Click here to review your GEDCOM Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

[add comment] [edit] Christopher Grice [14 January 2014]Hi I've made an attempt at tidying up your census listing for Christopher Grice. I hope I haven't made any mistakes. Additional spaces and tabs just don't work in WeRelate. I have replaced most of them with commas and <br> which means next data will be on another line. There is a way of building the information into a table which is probably what you would have liked to do, but it takes a lot of typing time. It is easier to list people using commas. WeRelate uses the geographical terms in use circa 1900. Yorkshire was divided into three "ridings": the East Riding of Yorkshire, the West Riding of Yorkshire, and the North Riding of Yorkshire. In 1974 there was a reorganization of municipalities and the parts of Yorkshire were renamed and the boundaries changed. North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, and South Yorkshire don't get used until after 1974. East Yorkshire doesn't exist. Part of it was called Humberside for a while, but now it's back to being the East Riding of Yorkshire again. But much of the part you find your ancestors in went to North Yorkshire in the shake-up. There are "Place pages" in WeRelate and I am gradually sorting out all the places to thier old and new names. You will probably be able to turn your MySources into proper Sources for census listings, but learning how to tackle formal sources is not easy. Take your time. I've been on WeRelate for almost two years and I'm still learning. Regards --Goldenoldie 21:33, 14 January 2014 (UTC) |
