Hi Ruth, This is Susanna Ruth Mach Leers. My mother Ruth Janzow Mach was your mom's first cousin. My mother and I with my three sons once visited your parents in St. Peter when we traveled to a family reunion in Silo, MN. I happened upon this website when I Googled "Janzow Usedom." One good thing about the Janzows - it seems that any person in the US named Janzow is related to us!--Sleers 14:37, 12 June 2018 (UTC)

Next step: Review your GEDCOM [18 November 2009]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded rICHTER myged.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Adding Places [23 November 2009]

Hello, I am a volunteer admin. It's my job to help people learn to use the system. You have evidently found a bug in the Gedcom upload system. With some gedcoms the system takes the data and creates pages with the gedcom's names instead of the standardized names used by the place database. Place name hierarchy is very important to keep places properly indexed, otherwise we quickly have an unsearchable, unusable list places. So, I have to go through and fix things. Below is a list of the pages I have redirected to duplicate pages or have needed to delete. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Pages redirected to existing duplicate pages

Deleted pages: Place database cannot accommodate churches, farms, addresses, subdivisions of towns.

  • Place:Immanuel Luth Church at Silo Near Lewiston, Winona, Minnesota, United States
  • Place:Faith Lutheran Church
  • Place:Big Canoe Luth., Pleasant, Boone, Iowa, United States deleted. We don't create place pages for churches.
  • Place:Big Canoe, Pleasant Tnwhp, Winnesheik, Iowa, United States--deleted. Cannot accomodate a subdivion of a town.

Other pages:

  • Place:Uesedamm Is (meaning dyke) in baltic sea btwn pomerania, Denmark & Sweden deleted. Each place must be assigned to only one country. Please recreate page as Uesedamn, Denmark or Uesedamn, Sweden. If this is a town, inside a district, state or county, Please name it Uesedamn, county or district, Sweden or Uesedamn. district, Denmark.
  • Place:Iowa River Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery, Hanover Twnshp, Allamakee, Iowa, United States redirected to Place:Iowa River Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery, Hanover, Allamakee, Iowa, United States--do not use words such as "county," "township," "City," etc. unless there are two places by the same name in the same county.

Thanks so much for your understanding. If these pages were not created in gedcom upload would you please let me know how you created them.

Thanks, --sq 23:45, 23 November 2009 (EST)

Census data [23 January 2010]

Will you please point to instructions for listing census data correctly? How should it be labeled in the Census line and also in the Source area. Many thanks! Ruth Ellen Luehr-Richter-Opheim-Quandal--RELuehr 12:10, 23 January 2010 (EST)

Hello Ruth Ellen, I am a volunteer admin here at WeRelate. I see you had a question regarding census pages. Our Source page title help page gives instructions on naming a census page. Can you give me a specific example on a source that you would like to create so I can help a bit more? Thank you! --Jennifer (JBS66) 12:16, 23 January 2010 (EST)

Here is an example of a census page: Source:Fairfield, Connecticut, United States. 1900 U.S. Census Population Schedule.

Note the periods between the U.S. in the title. Also notice the contents inside the Text box when you look inside that page (by pressing Edit). There you will see the {{1900Census}}. --Jennifer (JBS66) 12:54, 23 January 2010 (EST)

Ged com attached to wrong tree [26 August 2010]

Greetings!

I attached the following Gedcom to the wrong tree.

  JacobNKvandal10genOGF.ged
  Import: 22 Dec 2009
  Download

It should be attached to the Albert Henry Luehr tree and not the Herman Richter tree. Is there anyway to remedy this ?

Many thanks!

Invitation to Discussions on Norwegian Data Entry Standards [11 December 2013]

As a recent contributor of Norwegian ancestry to WeRelate, I invite you to participate in two discussions. One is to set a convention for entering Norwegian names (see topic 8.2 Norwegian Names on WeRelate). The other is to set a standard for Norwegian place names. I look forward to anything you can contribute to either discussion. Thanks.--DataAnalyst 01:13, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Common Ancestor [9 February 2015]

Hi There,

It seems we both follow a number of similar pages. I'm not sure if this means you are related to these people, but if so it seems that our latest common ancestor might be Johan Clausen, b. 1758 in Denmark. I am related to him through his daughter, Anna Nielsen (born Johnansen). I'd love to hear from you if you get a moment. Best regards, Marc Carson
