Next step: Review your GEDCOM [21 March 2010]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Holdengraber 3.22.10.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Your gedcom file [21 March 2010]

Hello and welcome to WeRelate. Thank you for submitting your gedcom file. There are a few problems I would like you to look at. WeRelate creates a wiki page for each Person and for each Family in the file. The Family pages are used to show relationships between spouses and between parents and children. You have a number of living people in your file. We must exclude these for privacy reasons. There are people who appear to be living and for whom you show address information. This would be a problem if these pages were created. Please review your file checking carefully that the exclude box is checked for any living people. Also, please review the Family page. In many cases, the family will have only one person and a family page is not needed. These should also be excluded. It would be a good idea to review the pages mentioned on the warning tab. You can perhaps correct these problems before the file is imported. When you are done, please return to the Import tab and mark the file ready for import. Thanks. --Judy (jlanoux) 20:20, 21 March 2010 (EDT) (WeRelate volunteer)

2nd notice-You must review your gedcom file [28 March 2010]

This is a reminder that your gedcom file was returned to you to review because of problems with private information about living people. Please review and mark the exclude box for all living people. When you do not provide dates, the program is unable to detect some living people. Remember that a web page is created for each person in your file. When you have completed the review, please return to the Import tab and mark the file ready for import. --Judy (jlanoux) 16:28, 28 March 2010 (EDT) (WeRelate volunteer)

Private information in your gedcom file [30 March 2010]

Hello, I am a volunteer administrator here at WeRelate. I saw that you sent your gedcom file through to be reviewed. I noticed there are pages that contain information dated 2009 on people who are possibly alive. I. Holdengraber; E. Holdengreber; G.Holdengreber; and F.Ginsberg all have addresses and other identifiable data listed. Our policy is that no information on living individuals can be added. We ask that you please exclude any people that may still be living. I have sent your file back to user review status. Thank you, --Jennifer (JBS66) 16:57, 30 March 2010 (EDT)

Holdengrabers [24 March 2013]

I'm looking into Holdengrabers myself, and Edith was my grandmother. I'm guessing you've posted this info. from a family tree I put together somewhere -- and thanks for doing it -- but I wanted to double-check and see whether you turn out to have come upon this yourself. If so, I'd very much like to exchange informtation.

You can email me at [email protected]. I'd like to hear from you in any case.

Thanks,

Joe Kraus--Maxie16 15:05, 24 March 2013 (EDT)
