"_____ IS PREFERRED"? [15 April 2009]

Hello, I've noticed that on several ancestor pages that you've added a notation to several couples, usually referring to one of their children, "______ is preferred". Can you explain the purpose of this notation? I can understand adding a source or documentation of some kind, but I don't understand why it is added. I have not seen any other researchers here using this notation and don't see anything in the WeRelate instructions, either. Seems kind of confusing to me, especially when the notation is not for the couple involved and only lists one of their children.

Thanks for clarifying and best regards,

"Blank is preferred" is probably a GEDCOM issue. In your GEDCOM program on your computer you can choose to highlight a person, or a couple, etc making it visually easier to locate them in your GEDCOM.

I had the same "preferred phrase" after I uploaded my GEDCOM. It is a simple fix. My choose on those effected pages on Werelate was go to choose "edit" then I deleted that phrase.

If you prefer you could choose edit, add more detail to that phrase so it makes more sense to you and other Werelate Users. Such as "This is a ancestor of Libby Campbell".

Hope this helps Debbie Freeman --DFree 12:02, 15 April 2009 (EDT)

Internal dupes in your uploaded GEDCOM? [12 June 2009]

Hi, I'm a volunteer at WeRelate, helping to de-dupe duplicate person and family pages. Your GEDCOM appears to have a number of duplicates in it. Please log in, select "Show duplicates" from the "My Relate" menu in the upper right corner, and follow the steps for de-duping. Many people here, including myself, are available to help you. Thank you. jillaine 11:55, 12 June 2009 (EDT)

Ball family [22 March 2012]

Hello PW, I have edited the Ball and Harris families starting from my local cemetery (Reedley Cemetery, Reedley, CA) and Mary Magdalene Hine Harris (her husband) using available resources including Findagrave. Findagrave shows the grave markers for all of the family members that I have located so far. Jacksson--Jacksson 16:53, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

Duckett Family Tree [19 June 2013]

I saw that you had multiple entries for the Duckett Family Tree. I added some of the information that I have, and will continue to fill in over time. My lineage starts with Roger Hall, my father, who just passed away, and then his mother was a Duckett (Pauline).--Ryanhall 09:23, 19 June 2013 (EDT)
