Next step: Review your GEDCOM [29 September 2014]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Back.GED, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it.

Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Alterations to family member entries [29 March 2017]

Hi

What I have been doing with your family entries (and those of many other people) is correcting how you have expressed Places. Because I make a lot of these changes I can't remember exactly what my corrections were. Places entered in the centre box of the three on the "edit" page are supposed to contain only three bits: the village or town or parish, the county and the country. This is so that they will match up with places in our database and may assist other users to find people who lived near their own families. Street addresses, farms and manors are "extras" and should be entered in the third of the boxes. On a worldwide basis there are plenty of places that get duplicated. This is why putting in the country is so important. Have a look through the instruction pages where a lot is explained in more detail than I can put down here.

Good luck in making more discoveries.

Re: Updates (23 Dec 2019) [23 December 2019]

I'm no relation, just a "cleaner upper" who hates to see places appearing in red because this means they are not on our database. I work on places and am currently on Southwark, but once I find a page with "errors", I tend to fix them all at once. I had no trouble with your Australian places.
