Next step: Review your GEDCOM [6 September 2009]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Ashley's Family 9.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Source pages [1 October 2009]

Hi. We really appreciate your contributions to our community. Hope you are enjoying using WeRelate. I am a volunteer admin and its my job to check recent edits. I noticed that you have contributed a number of source pages,

I'm trying to figure out if these sources are intended for single records or for collections of records.

The "Source" namespace is reserved for sources of common interest, like books and record collections. If the above sources are intended for a single birth or death certificate, would you please re-create them as MySource pages (select MySource from the Add menu) and I'll remove these Source pages.

On the other hand, if they are intended to refer to a collection of birth or death certificates that one could review at a county or state office or website, then they should be renamed to reflect the collection, having the name of the county/state that keeps the records, followed by the type of the records; e.g., "Ohio, United States. Death Certificates" or "Multnomah, Oregon, United States. Birth Certificates". Ideally, you would also list a place where others can see the the collection in the "repositories" section of the Source page.

Would you please take one of the above actions and reply to this message to let me know what you did?

Thanks so much for your help :) --sq 13:12, 1 October 2009 (EDT)

Dear sq, Yes, I am trying to cite sources of original death certificates that I have obtained from various state department's of health. I got very frustrated after going though at least 10 pages of suggestions and not finding what I was looking for. So, I just hit "add page." I will use your suggestions and try to find generic sources for Oregon and Ohio death certificates. I have some for California also, but I did not tackle those because I just got pages and pages of county specific death records, as I recall. I am sorry after awhile all the searches for suitable standard sources has become a blur. Margaret Maulin--Mmaulin 15:55, 1 October 2009 (EDT)

Lipe Family Relative? [21 April 2012]

I am searching for information on Elizabeth Kelley nee Lipe. Specifically, attempting to establish the movements of the Raymond P. Lipe family c. 1920-1940.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.--Mkelley 21:43, 20 April 2012 (EDT)
