WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Buttwagon.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it.

Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier.

Gedcom Review [7 March 2016]

Hi,

I am reviewing your gedcom prior to uploading and have a couple of questions.

There are several warnings that you have checked and left in, are they all OK to ignore? Many of them seem to be birthdate problems and they could be baptism dates rather than birth dates which would explain a lot. Of more concern you have matched Thomas Smith and Ann Vanmyddagh (F24 gedcom) with Deliverance Smith and Mary Tripp (1) The only real thing I see in common is a child with the same name but his death dates do not match and there is not enough to match the birth, are you sure you want to match them? Perhaps discussion with the other watchers on the page will help make a decision.

Response to Initial Review [17 March 2016]

Thanks for taking a look, firstly.

Truth be told, I was quite tired of attempting to fix the inconsistencies and just wanted to get the thing uploaded here for review, later. There are just so many problems, as you noticed, but I guess I'll do my best to fix them. I need to fix the VanMyddagh deal entirely since I don't believe he was married to her, and have found at least one source that has him married to Sabrina de Vignon, another person on my tree, and that Van Myddagh was simply a person who came from the Netherlands w/ de Vignon.

In any case, again, I will work on it.

I saw you had several attempd to upload. Perhaps the best short term fix would be to exclude the VanMyddagh family from the upload, click the exclude boxes on the family and person pages, it will then be OK to import. The WeRelate upload is different to most sites as within a few minutes of uploading the mergers are done automagically and reviewing the merged family would be complicated. This is why we try to get things right first, or at least nearly right.

There is an active Nederlands group on WeRelate, perhaps they can help with the problem family? I went ahead and imported you gedcom, I excluded the one problem family, they cab be easily added when you sort them out, I also linked a few more places to our places database to save you work.--Rhian 14:20, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

The pages from your GEDCOM have been generated successfully. You may now:

• launch the Family Tree Explorer to navigate your tree
• view your network -- If you matched families in your GEDCOM to existing families, find out to which other WeRelate users you are related.
• view related pages not in your tree -- If you matched families in your GEDCOM to existing families, find out which people you are now related to that you can add to your tree (takes awhile to display for large trees).
• view a searchable list of the pages in your tree -- The searchable list will be available about an hour after your tree has been imported.
