Next step: Review your GEDCOM [10 November 2009]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Shappee FamilyGood.GED, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Find A Grave, etc. [28 January 2016]

Hi Jshappee,

First of all, welcome to Werelate. I see you are new here. As a former genealogical librarian myself, I'd like to point you to the Find A Grave template which makes citing a gravesite much easier and guarantees that the memorial page is always accessible from WR. Go to "Sources", put "Find A Grave" on the "Title" line, then page down to example for entering a memorial page and copy to the template you've created on the WR person page. Some contributors place this in the Vol/Pa; I prefer to place this in the text section. Replace the Name and # in the example with your person & Findagrave ID #. This prevents the link from change by Findagrave. I've had a few of my Finda page links become invalid due to changes in the cemetery name, etc. Later today, I'll change one of your links for you. Again welcome. If I can answer any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page. Neal Gardner --SkippyG 19:58, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Thanks! I knew there had to be a better way.  :)--Jshappee 23:19, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi JShappee, I changed the Find A Grave for Ira Shappee. As I said previously, this is in my style for the Template. I like putting the name of the cemetery in the "Title" space and at times with a link to the cemetery's main page. Generally, memorial pages without a photo are not a primary source. In cases like this, I look for a published reading of the cemetery online or elsewhere. In lieu of this, I put in a request for a grave photo. As a Find A Grave contributor, I find my request is filled more often than not. Regards, Neal--SkippyG 03:11, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you [7 April 2016]

I have noticed you adding lots of sources to some old abandoned pages, thank for doing this, it is the sources that move research from being family stories to genealogy and your work is very much appreciated.--Rhian 07:57, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
