Got Your Message [26 October 2009]

Well, now I'm going to have to learn something new -- how to talk on WeRelate! This could be interesting.--GayelKnott 21:31, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

Hello, Thank you for responding. To talk on WeRelate or respond to a message you have choices. You can do what I have and click on edit topic and write a message underneath. Or you can add a new topic as well. It is considerate to add your signature (second to last button, by the Red W button). That way it is easier to follow who wrote what.

Your signature is the blue colored User Name. You can if you like click on the other Users signature (blue) which will take you to the other Users Page, you then can go to their Talk page by clicking on the Talk. You then can add a topic or message. Hope this helps. Debbie Freeman --DFree 22:03, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

Ulrich Family connection [29 November 2009]

Hi Glen! Nice to meet you. My grandma on my dads side is an Ulrich. Her dads name was Hays Charles Ulrich b. 1 dec 1893.....his dad was Louis Ulrich b. feb 1859. Hays had a twin sister Hazel. Louis's dad was Phillip b. in 1837. Phillip had Louis, Mary, Emma, Phillip and William. ....his dad was Peter b. 1801....thats as far as I got. My grandma is getting up there in age and doesnt remember a whole lot of stuff anymore. Hays's wifes name was Anna Mehl and her dad was Gustave Mehl. All the wives of the Ulrich men after Anna are a little sketchy, i have gotten conflicting info from various sites and Gram doesnt remember many names. Louis's wife may have been Emma Lower, my Gram said it sounds familiar. I know my Gram has a ton of pictures and things, but she lives in Florida and I'm in PA. I hate to bother her because she's taking car of my grandpa 24/7 and I know she doesnt have the time or energy to dig all the stuff up. If any of this matches up, I'd love to hear what you have found!! Have a great night! Jess--JKido728 18:47, 18 November 2009 (EST)

sorry for the 2nd post, but I looked at the names on your profile, I know some of our Ulrich relatives started out down in Missouri and that surrounding area based on different census records. When Phillip came here from Bavaria, Louis was born in PA, but im not sure that all his siblings were, I havent found any local death records that show Phillip died here.--JKido728 18:52, 18 November 2009 (EST)

Hi, Glen.

Got your message. Sorry it was so hard to sort out the problems, but glad to hear you are not giving up.

Actually, if you want to import a gedcom, it's not really that hard. I leave out the sources on mine (and you could just do births, marriages and deaths if you want).

Anyway, the Phiefer stuff should still be there. Eventually I'll get back to adding to it.--GayelKnott 21:05, 28 November 2009 (EST)

Vital Data [29 November 2009]

Hello, I am a volunteer admin. It's my job to help people learn how to use our community website. I noticed that your pages had only names. You can add vital data, biographies, photos, scanned documents, sources, etc. by clicking on the edit link at the top of any page.  :) --sq 00:15, 29 November 2009 (EST)

Creating new tree [29 November 2009]

Hello, I noticed that you are working to recreate your tree. I followed you question over at Support regarding families with two women as parents. It appears that a new page you created has the same problem: Person:Marie Bartkowski (2). Her parents are appearing as Sophia Grace Nussbaum and Amelia Page. There is also a family with two men as parents, Family:Jefferson Williams and Calvin Williams (1).

It seems you created the person pages, and then created a family page for them. Perhaps, as Judy had pointed out, it may be easier to first create a Family page and then plug in the husband and wife. I know there can be a learning curve with WeRelate (frustrating at times...) However, once you get the hang of it... working here is a lot of fun! Feel free to post with any questions! Next step: Review your GEDCOM [3 December 2009]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Williams_Master_file.GED, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.
