Now that you have uploaded nash family tree 2018 3.GED into our review program, it is time for you to match your data to ours. Your next step is to review and resolve any potential warnings that your file might be showing and to match place names, source names and families to pages that may already exist in our database. Notes:
Click here to enter the review program WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing here you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.
[add comment] [edit] Not enough data [18 June 2018]Hello and welcome to WeRelate. Thank you for submitting your GEDCOM file. I am afraid that there is a problem. WeRelate is based on a shared database and creates a wiki page for each person. In your file, most of the people don't have events with dates and places which would enable someone to identify the person. Also, if you will click on the warnings tab, you will see several places in your GEDCOM that need corrections. We cannot post files with duplicate entries or obvious errors (such as extremely young parents). We will not be able to use this file as it is. However, we do encourage you to work on your data. You will need to add at least one date and place for most of the people in your file. We strongly encourage the use of sources, many of which can be found for free on the internet. You may like to browse the existing pages and try creating a few by hand to get familiar with how WeRelate works. A list of recently Featured pages is available on our Main page. These will provide some examples of what is possible. And, finally, as a reminder, we do not create pages for living people. If you have any questions about your file, you can leave a message here on your Talk page, and one of our volunteers will respond shortly.--sq 16:25, 18 June 2018 (UTC) [add comment] [edit] [18 June 2018]Welcome to WeRelate, Don! Just read Dallan's msg to you about GEDCOM review. He forgot to tell you that yes, you have to click on Adobe to allow it to run before the review process will open for you. And yes, the review process is sometimes considered a bother - but it is here that WeRelate catches my errors and causes me to rethink ways to make it better. Just my opinion, but I've been around the block a few times and I've decided WeRelate is worth the extra time it takes to review the work. So be patient and learn as you go. Hope you enjoy the collaborative aspect of this puzzle called genealogy! --janiejac 18:09, 18 June 2018 (UTC) [add comment] [edit] deleting folks & help [19 June 2018]Hi Don, I'm responding to your question just in case Solveig is busy. As for deleting folks, I'm assuming you are in the review process and want to exclude certain folks from the upload. Click on the people tab, on the left side put a check mark to 'exclude' those folks. I would not exclude anyone just because they lack both date and location. As long as you have at least one or the other and a connection to someone else, that person should be fine to upload. Lots of times we don't have all the desired info, but if we have enough to give others a way to differentiate that person from someone else with the same name, the info is good to upload. But names without connections or dates or locations are subject to duplication because that person cannot be firmly identified. Also want to mention that the 'watercooler' is a great place to ask all kinds of questions. And more folks will see your questions; so you may get a quicker reply. The link to the watercooler is under 'Help' on the top right of the page. 'Support' is also a good place to ask questions. I learned a lot just reading other folks questions and the various responses. --janiejac 16:35, 19 June 2018 (UTC) |
