Next step: Review your GEDCOM [12 May 2011]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Webb_Genealogy 9.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it.

Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Minnie Johnson burial date [13 May 2011]

Hello, I just sent your gedcom through to import. I noticed one small error on the page for Minnie Johnson. Her burial date is listed as 3 DEC 1865, but based upon her death date, this should likely be 3 DEC 1965. You can correct this after the gedcom had finished uploading. Thank you, --Jennifer (JBS66) 08:26, 13 May 2011 (EDT)

Webb Family [24 October 2011]

Hello Barbara

My name is Michael Webb from New Zealand. I came across this site quite by accident and it appears that we are following the same family history, and are possibly even related. I have quite a bit of knowledge of the family of Luke Webb and Elizabeth Waters, as their eight child Luke was my grandfather. Luke and Elizabeth had eleven children in all, and I have tried adding the extras to this site but not being super tech savvy I have not had much success. To my befuddled brain it seems complicated and I am afraid of deleting something important. Perhaps you may be able to do this more successfully that I. My records show the children as follows:

1. Frederick; born at Goldcliff 1823; died 22 April 1857 at Grant, Wisconsin. He had a wife Hannah and a daughter Henrietta who was baptised at Goldcliff on 7 November, 1847. He later married Jane Edwards in Wisconsin.

2. Elizabeth; born 1824 at Goldcliff; died at Auckland, New Zealand 1910. She and her husband John Evans came to New Zealand in 1860 with their five children and her brother Luke (my greatgrandfather).

3. Sarah; baptised 23 July 1826 at Goldcliff (not 1836 as listed on this site), married Alfred Hale, seven children, died 23 July 1896 at Little Grant, Wisconsin.

4. Cecelia; baptised 2 September, 1827 at Goldcliff, married John Hale, died 27 November, 1876, at Little Grant, Wisconsin.

5. Susannah; died 13 March, 1829, aged 15 days.

6. Thomas; baptised 20 March, 1831 at Goldcliff, married at Grant, Wisconsin, firstly Margaret Freset on 3 April 1856 and later Drucilla Weaver in 1860, died at Mt Hope, Wisconsin 1904.

7. Susannah; baptised 21 November 1832 at Goldcliff, died 2 May 1848 at Goldcliff

8. Luke (my greatgrandfather); baptised 21 December 1834 at Goldcliff, married Mary Ann Lang, Ruatangata, New Zealand in 1870, died by drowning about 1892, body never found.

9. Martha; baptised 19 November 1837 at Goldcliff, married Francis Davies, died 1894 at Llanfihangel, Monmouthshire.

10. Charles; baptised 3 November 1839 at Goldcliff, married Helen Taylor, died 1918 at Newport, Monmouthshire.

11. Maria; baptised 10 January 1837, Goldcliff, married Thomas Hawker, lived St Wollos, Monmouthshire.

Neither Luke nor Elizabeth were originally from Goldcliff; he came from Thornbury in Gloucestershire and took up a farm, Clifton Court at Goldcliff as a young man. He had several brothers and sisters who all remained in Gloustershire. Elizabeth was from Bristol.

I would very much like to hear from you and share information and memories. I remember as a child my grandfather saying that we had cousins in America, which seemed rather exotic to a small boy in rural New Zealand but of course I didn't pay his comments the attention they deserved.

I hope this email reaches you and if so I look forward to your reply. My email address is ravenskeep@ihug.co nz

Warm regards,

Michael Webb.--Webbmd 20:24, 23 October 2011 (EDT)
