He m. the next 8 Sept. Abigail, d. of Elder John Strong, wid. of Rev.
Nathaniel Chauncy, had Samuel, 16 Aug. or Sept. 1687, Y. C. 1705;
and his w. d. 15 Apr. 1704. For third w. he had 24 Jan. 1705. Hannah,
wid. of Thomas Noble the first of Westfield. He was a blacksmith,
freem. 1671, many yrs. town clk, deac. and rep. 1677, 83, 4, 6,
90, and 2, and d. 30 Dec. 1716. Distinc. for public serv. attach. to
most of the s. Samuel, the youngest, was min. of Newtown, L. I. join.
the Presbyt. commun. and was active in extend. the influence of that
name; as fully told in Riker's Hist. Joseph was f. of Rev. Benjamin,
Y. C. 1733, of Hebron; Ebenezer, the Sheriff of Hampsh. one of his
Majesty's Counc. for the Prov. foll. the trade of a blacksmith, as did his
s. Col. Seth, a hero of the early day of our Revo. who, in his will,
1777, gave "to my s. Quartus my bick iron, wh. his gr.gr.f. made 105
yrs. ago. He is the fourth smith in the fam. and Quartus is his name."
RICHARD, Salem, 1671. THOMAS, whose name is writ. Pummery,
was of Portsmouth, m. bef. 1679, Rebecca, d. of William Brooking of
the same. Eight of his name, had in 1834, been gr. at Yale, one at Harv.
and ten at other N. E. coll.

    POMFRET, WILLIAM, Dover 1640, was early town, clk, and lieut. d. 7
Aug. 1680. His d. Martha m. William Dame; and ano. d. m. Thomas
Whitehouse.

    POND, DANIEL Dedham, Perhaps s. of the first Robert, may have
been b. in Eng. freem. 1690, d. Feb. 1698. His first w. was Abigail, d.
of Edward Shepard of Cambridge, prob. had sev. ch. but by ano. w.
Ann, wh. surv. some of the foll. may have come: John; Ephraim, bapt.
6 July 1656; William; Daniel, both, 26 Apr. 1663; Robert, 11 Aug.
1667; Caleb; and Jabez; seven s. beside Abigail, who m. Ralph Day;
Hannah Devotion, prob. w. of John; Rachel Stow dec.; and Sarah,
unm. at the d. of f. EPHRAIM, Wrentham, s. of the preced. m. 6 Jan.
1686, Deborah Hawes, had Ephraim, b. 21 Oct. 1686; Daniel, 22 Sept.
1689; Deborah, 13 Sept. 1693; and Samuel, 29 Dec. 1695; and d. 22
Dec. 1704. ISAAC, Windsor, prob. s. of Samuel of the same, m. 10 or
20 May 1667, Hannah, d. of John Griffin, had Hannah, b. 10 Feb.
1688; and he d. 15 Nov. next yr. JOHN, s.of one of Winthrop's old
neighb. came 1630 with the Gov. as also did a br. whose name is not
ment. when the Gov. in the first letter aft. arr. to his eldest s. at Groton,
directs him to tell "old Pond" both his s. are well. and remember their
duty. JOHN, Wrentham, s. of Daniel of Dedham, by w. Hannah, wh.
d. 2 Jan. 1692, had Daniel, b. 2 Apr. 1690; and by w. Rachel, had
Hannah, 16 Mar. 1694; and Rachel, 19 Oct. 1695. ROBERT, Dorchester,
tho. not found in the list of Dr. Harris, was there to partake, 1638,
