date, and five more of unkn. names. Ruth m. 2 Aug. 1688, Ebenezer
Thayer. In the will of 11 Aug. 1688, pro. 20 Feb. 1691, is provision
for the four s. for w. Hannah, and for eleven ds. Abigail Scott, Hannah,
w. of Nehemiah Hayden, Sarah Mansfield, Mary, w. of John Thayer, Ruth
Thayer, Deborah, Lydia, Rebecca, Rachel, Elizabeth and Joanna; but to the last
six, perhaps ch. of the surv. w. only £20 ea. are giv. The boast on his
gr.-stone is, that he was f. of 21 ch. but far better is it thot. to provide
for 15. HENRY, Braintree, s. of the preced.[1] m. it is said, 14 Feb. 1666,
Hannah Pray; and nothing more is told, but that he d. 26 July 1717.
JEREMIAH, Easthampton, L. I. 1649. JEREMIAH, Salem, s. of the first
John of the same, m. 15 June 1668, Sarah Hart, had John, b. 16 Apr.
1669; Mary, 11 May 1670; and Sarah, 1 Nov. 1671; and his w. d. 28
Sept. 1672. He m. next, 22 Sept. 1673, Mary, d. of Robert Buffum, had
Jeremiah, 25 Sept. 1674; Abigail; Lydia; Robert; Deborah; and Hannah,
by her; and m. next, 31 Oct. 1707, Dorothy Lord; was lieut. and d. July
1722. His wid. d. bef. May 1735. JOHN, Salem, freem. 18 May 1642,
but Felt does not incl. his name with ch. memb. wh. may be conjectural.
expl. by guess, that he had unit. with some other ch. bef. going thither;
yet he had bapt. there, John, 22 May 1642; John, again, 24 Mar. 1644;
Jeremiah, 18 Jan. 1646; Lydia, 7 Apr. 1650, Jonathan, 15 Aug. 1652;
Mary, b. 14 Mar. bapt. 29 Apr. 1655; the last two d. young; Jonathan,
again, 6 Sept. 1 657; and John, again, bapt. 24 June 1658, tho. we
may be confident that he was b. several yrs. bef. and I should prefer to
make his day of bapt. 24 Jan. 1647; beside Sarah, wh. d. 22 July 1658,
perhaps quite young; and Joseph, b. as the fam. tradit. goes, 1663, (but
by rec. 14 Mar. 1659, i. e. 1660); and d. 12 May 1672. His will of 9
days preced. anm. ch. and gr.ch. in Essex Inst. II. 72. As Mary is
among ch. memb. 1647, I presume she was his only ch. of Francis
Laurie or Lawes, and she m. next, Andrew Mansfield. Lydia m. Nov.
1671, Jonathan Hart. JOHN, Salem, s. of the preced. m. Ann Nichols,
had John, b. 15 Apr. 1673; Thomas, 14 Feb. 1675; Joseph, 4 Dec.
1677; and Rebecca, 23 Feb. 1679; and he d. 11 Nov. foll. His wid.
m. William Sterling of Haverhill. JOSEPH, Salem, br. of the preced.
m. Judith, d. of Richard Croad of the same had Judith, b. 1682, d. at
16 yrs.; Joseph, 1690; Lydia; and Hannah. His w. d. bef. 1689, and
