22 Mar. 1687; and Joseph, again, 18 Jan. 1689. MERCY, New Haven, s.
of John, by w. Elizabeth had John; and William, b. 28 June 1682; but perhaps
John was not the elder. He d. not long aft. for his inv. was of 3
Mar. 1685, and only the wid. and two s. to have int. in it. In no other
case have I seen this female name enjoy. by a man. The surname is
sometimes writ. by mistake for Morse.

    MOTT, ADAM, Hingham, a tailor, from Cambridge, Eng. came in the
Defence 1635, aged 39, with w. Sarah, 31, and ch. John, 14; Adam, 12;
Jonathan, 9; Elizabeth 6; and Mary, 4; was first of Roxbury, freem. 25
May 1636; perhaps disatisf. as a friend of Hutchinson, went 1638 to
Rh. Island with fam. there had, perhaps, more ch. and was with
Adam jr. John, and Jonathan, perhaps his s. liv. at Portsmouth, as
freem. 1655. ADAM, Portsmouth, R. I. s. of the preced. m. ct. 1647,
Mary Lott, had Adam, b. Sept. 1650; Mary, 1 Jan. 1656; Sarah,
Oct. 1657; Elizabeth 9 Aug. 1659; Phebe, 20 Aug. 1661; this 1 Apr.
1664; Abigail, 3 May 1666; and John, 1 Jan. 1656; JACOB, Newport,
perhaps s. of the first Adam, by w. Joanna had Hannah, b. Nov.
1663; Mercy, 8 Jan. 1666 Sarah, 3 Feb. 1670; Elizabeth 12 Sept. 1672;
and Samuel, 4 Sept. 1678. JOHN Newport, perhaps br. of the first
Adam, sign. the compact at the same time with him, July 1638, was of
Block isl. or one of the same name, 1684. NATHANIEL, Scituate, able
to bear arms 1643, rem. to Braintree, m. 1656, Hannah, Shooter had
Nathaniel, b. 28 Dec. 1657. A Margaret M. came in the Speedwell,
1656, aged 12.

    MOULD, EDWARD, Salem, by w. whose name, in Essex Inst. II.
297, seems an impossib. one, had Edward, b. 30 Oct. 1662. HUGH,
New London 1660, sh. builder, m. 11 June 1662, Martha, d. of
John Coit, had been prob. first at Barnstable, d. 1692, leav. wid.
Martha, and six ds. of wh. Susanna m. Mar. 1683, Daniel White;
and Mary m. 3 Apr. 1693, Joseph White, and the mo. of the girls m.
the f. of their hs. as his. sec. w. SAMUEL, Charlestown, by w. Mary
had Mary, bapt. 30 Mar. 1689, the mo. hav. been bapt. 13 Feb. 1687,
aged 20.

    MOULDER, NICHOLAS, Boston 1671, merch. by w. Christian had
Nicholas, b. 21 June 1672. He was abus. as a Quaker, by Gov. Bellingham,
and rem. to whence he came. But ano. kind of abuse was
practis. in the change of his Christian name at Boston, for the Friend's
rec. prove that it was: EDWARD, and that at Newport, by w. Christian,
he had Edward, b. 24 Mar. 1669; and at Boston, Nicholas, 29 May
1671, wh. prob. d. soon; and Nicholas, again, agreea. to Boston rec. 21
June 1672.

    MOULTHROP or MOULTROP, JOHN, New Haven, s. of the sec. Matthew,
m. 29 June 1692, Abigail Bradley, d. of Joseph, had Abigail, b.
