    MAXSON, MAXON or MAGGSON, JOHN, Westerly, perhaps s. of
Richard, was rep. 1685, may have been f. of a min. wh. serv. the seventh
day Bapt. congrega. (as ment. by Callender) at Westerly 1738; and d. 17
Dec. 1720, aged 82. Descend. have been num. He m. Mary Mosher,
had John, b. 1666; Joseph, 1672; Dorothy; Jonathan; Hannah; and
Mary. His w. d. 2 Feb. 1718, aged 77. One of the ds. m. Hubbard
Burdick. JOHN, Westerly, s. of the preced. m. 19 Jan. 1688, Judith,
d. of Joseph Clark, had Judith, b. 23 Sept. 1689; Mary, 26 Oct. 1691,
d. next yr.; Bethia, 31 July 1693; Elizabeth 7 Nov. 1695; Hannah, 13 June
1698; John, 21 Apr. 1701; Dorothy, 20 Oct. 1703; Susanna, 19 Oct.
1706; Joseph, Dec. 1709, d. July foll.; and Avis, 27 Dec. 1712; and
the f. d. July 1747. JONATHAN, Westerly, br. of the preced. m. 1 May
1707, Content Rogers, possib d. of Jonathan, had Jonathan, b. 16 Jan. 1708;
Content, 28 Jan. 1710; Joseph, 14 Jan. 1712; John, 2 Mar. 1714; Naomi, 6
May 1716; Samuel, 20 July 1718; Caleb, 1 Nov. 1721; and Mary, 20 Nov.
1723. His will is of 8 June 1732. JOSEPH, Westerly, br. of the preced. m.
Tacy, d. of Robert Burdick, had Joseph, b. 10 Mar. 1692; and John, Tacy,
Goodith, Mary, Ruth, and Elizabeth and d. Sept. 1750. RICHARD, Newport
1638, of wh. no more is kn. but that he was a blacksmith.

    MAXWELL, JAMES, Boston 1684, a memb. of the Scots' Charit. Soc.
was doorkeep. for the Gen. Court 1693. The name may be the same
as Maxfield. JOHN, the freem. of 1669, may have then been of
Andover.

    MAY, ELEAZER, Roxbury, s. of Samuel, m. early, and by w. Sarah
had Eleazer, b. 21 June 1687; Samuel, 26 Dec. 1688, d. the same day,
and his w. d. ten days aft. He was k. by the Ind. 29 Apr. foll.
GEORGE, Boston, m. 6 Oct. 1666, Elizabeth d. of William Franklin, was
an iron-monger, ar. co. 1661, freem. 1665. JOHN, Roxbury, writ. Mayes
and Mays in the early rec. of town and ch. but Maies in Col. rec. came
as early as 1640, or bef. with w. and prob. ch. John and Samuel, freem. 2
June 1641, d. 28 Apr. 1670, aged 30 yrs. His nuncup. will, made four
days bef. pro. next day, names s. John and Samuel; and his w. Sarah
d. 4 Mar. foll. This was not that w. he brot. from Eng. for in the rec.
of ch. Eliot had writ. under 18 June 1651, "sis. Mayes d. a very
gracious and savoury christian," nor was she that Sarah rec. by dism.
from Dorchester ch. as the same hand notes "an aged woman join. here
29 Apr. 1660." Farmer was inform. that he was of Mayfield; Co.

sev. mos. His will, pro. 11 Oct. foll. names the seven liv. ch. Mary, m.
4 Nov. 1676, John Ruggles; Sarah m. 24 Feb. 1680, Samuel Williams;
Ephraim d. in minority, but admin. of his est. was giv. 13 Nov. 1690,
to capt. Nathaniel Stearns; and Elisha perhaps rem. to a dist. JOHN,
