Helped form company with others at Newport for purchasing and settling a track of land call Cmiquamcut which now comprises Westerly , Hopkington, Charleston and Richmond. Served as Deputy to the General Assembly from Westerly in 1670, 1686, 1690, and 1705. In Sept 1708 was ordained to the office of Elder (paster) to what is now the First Hopkinton Seventh Day Baptist Church of Rhode Island. Was buried in the Clarke burying ground near Powatucket River. The early ministers of the church have been re-interred on the spot where the early church stood and a monument has been errected to their memory, called the Ministers, Monument.
